It should be possible, you might want to get a surplus connector so you can hook the fan motor to a battery.

Good to hear you recall more room in our wheels though.

Dont know if there is or not now. It sure looks it because its more wide open than the 9 spoke. But i just went to my car and took some measurments. From the inside of the spoke to the face of the caliper there is 5/16" of room left and then from the inside of the rim face to the top of the caliper there is about 3/8" left there. i wouldnt want to take up all of that room though since itd be harder to get the wheel on and if anything happens, ie bent wheel some how, i dont know how youll drive the car away. I think the main thing is in the rear of the caliper where it slants down. The corvette brakes have the ribs running over the whole top. If you use too thick of a pad, it may pull the caliper more toward the spokes and then run into the wheel on the inside where the ribs are running down the slanted portion. I just looked at a close up of the z06 calipers and the ribs dont seem to come off the top that far to interfere with the wheel itself where you can visually see. But if Wild got them on with his 9 spokes originally, using the f-body pads and not vette pads without any modifications to the caliper, i dont see why they wont fit the 6 spokes.

Thanks Gene. I wish I knew somebody local to me that has done the Corvette upgrade. I'd see if they'd let me swap a wheel to see how close it is.
I have an extra set of wheels with DR's mounted, it would only take a few minutes to check.
Maybe at the Regal meet in May would be a good time to do it if someone was game.

Sorry wasn't clear on my question earlier.

I already have the F body calipers in my garage with the brackets tapped to 14mm so I will need 12" front rotors now . What I need to know is if I decide to get a package deal and buy Front + Rears are the Monte Carlo and Impala rears a direct swap?

Thanks

Would getting 12" GXP rears throw off the brake bias too much if you only have F-body fronts?

I plan to do the Corvette Fronts and GXP rear brakes (if I can find them). I wouldn't mind going with the GXP fronts but then I would be forced to stick with 17" rims all the time. I know people have said the GXP rear brakes can throw the ABS off abit however that was only on a car with a complete GXP brake setup. Maybe having the smaller 12" setup in the front instead of the 13" would balance it out on our cars?

Another thing you guys should consider when doing a brake upgrade is the GXP Brake Petal. It engages the calipers quicker by pushing more fluid out faster from the master cylinder. A small bracket has to be welded onto the GXP petal to work with our stock brake petal switch. However thats not too hard. Installing it however can be a bear. Best thing to do is remove the driver seat and lay down on the floor and reach up to remove the "hidden" bolts.

i dont know if it will make a big difference with the abs or not. our cars have even sized rotors and just putting it up one inch front and rear shouldnt be THAT big of a difference. dont know how that would confuse the abs system. I havent heard of anyone doing the 12" front and rear, its all been a complete GXP setup. if all else fails, a biasing valve isnt that hard to put in to adjust everything accordingly with a couple paniced 60-0 and 100-0 stops (in a safe environment incase of spins) to get the right pressure to the rear.

I took my car out the first winter after I did the install to "play" with the ABS and I couldn't get it to do anything out of the ordinary. It kicked when and how expected every time.

I know this has been covered a MILLION times before but don't want to spend money on something I can't use.

The most popular is the standard 12" upgrade. This pretty much just uses the caliper mounting brackets from a monte carlo or impala and also the larger rotors off of an f-body, monte carlo or impala. Its a pretty simple upgrade just unbolting your stock bracket, slapping on the new bracket and rotor. the best bang for the buck when it comes to decreasing you stopping distance.

Not looking to spend a bunch right off the bat, but I can feel the brakes pulsating which tells me rotors are warped. Also had an occurrence today that made me realize I need an upgrade!

For calipers I would need just need these brackets (they are for the rear, I'm assuming they won't work for the front...):

Aurora caliper brackets

Where can I find just the brackets? eBay search isn't much help.

And for rotors I should get any of these:

Rotors

I'm assuming I would get pads from the same donor vehicle? Which of the pads on the page listed would be best for this setup?

Pads

Thanks in advance for helping out a sometimes overly cautious member...

See the link in my line above. It lists the cars that use the EXACT SAME caliper bracket. Yes the Aurora 1997 to 2003 ALL have 12 front brakes. All of these cars use the EXACT SAME pads and calipers, so, No you don't have to used different pads and calipers.
If you are looking for used caliper brackets, print the list and go to a salvage yard.
Buy new 12 rotors and stock pads. That is as cheap as you can do the upgrade
