About a year and a half ago I started having issues with my old key fob. I purchased a new one fron the dealership and it has worked fine until January 2012. The remote only works for unlock and trunk. I tried to reprogram it with the instructions found here and got the lock to work for a while but the key fob works interchangebly from lock to unlock, they won't work together. Sometimes the unlock would work and the lock would not work. Anyone have any ideas?

Take it apart and clean the contacts with alcohol. They get build up on them and won't make a connection.

Would I have to clean both sides as well as the contact part that touches the battery? I cleaned the back (or front), should I clean both sides?

Are you sure it's not a bad battery in the fob itself? Do you hear the doors physically lock and unlock? Perhaps the locking mechanism needs to be lubed?

I know the door unlocks because that's how I get into the car, with the remote. It just won't lock. I know the trunk pops open as well.

Clean the spot on the board where the button hits with alcohol and a cue tip. Then clean the part of the button that touches it. The buttons complete the circuit.

I cleaned it with alcohol. It now only opens the trunk, lol. Does the wiring harness in the trunk have any wires that are connected to the door locks? I know that when a wire was broken in that wire harness, I couldn't use the remote to pop the trunk.
