Sweet!

@  dezldave961 : (07 May 2020 - 04:14 PM)

Got bored and started making build video...

@  dezldave961 : (04 May 2020 - 04:05 AM)

I need to hunt down the little black trim bar that's at the top edge of the GS rocker panel cover, for driver's side between rear door and wheel well.

@  ejguillot : (03 May 2020 - 02:42 AM)

I've been on there too. I hope this forum is kept open, there's too much info to allow it to be lost!

@  dezldave961 : (24 April 2020 - 10:25 PM)

I've been monitoring GrandPrixForums and 3800Pro (don't have FB)... also hopped on TurboBuick, but 99% GN chatter from boomers

@  ejguillot : (19 April 2020 - 02:33 PM)

Everyone at home, plenty of free time.

@  ejguillot : (19 April 2020 - 02:33 PM)

@  M_Dogg : (05 December 2019 - 11:20 PM)

Cheers!

@  ejguillot : (02 December 2019 - 01:13 AM)

Hi there. Some of us are working to keep these cars alive and running. Glad you had a good 15 year run.

@  opera_bob : (30 November 2019 - 08:39 AM)

Every time I see an Old Buick I have major respect for it. I know what kind of torque these cars make.

@  opera_bob : (30 November 2019 - 08:38 AM)

I sold my 2002 GS back in 2017. She was falling apart all over the place. So I sold her and bought a 2017 Focus RS in 2017.

So I came into a really clean 98 GS with 155K from a relative about 3 weeks ago. The SES light was on when I first drove it but a mechanic had ensured my relative there were no major issues aside from a slow leak in the power steering pump. I drove it about 150 miles home with no issues whatsoever. About a week later I started getting really inconsistent boost at anything past 1/2 throttle, and a nasty chirping, stuttering noise. I visually inspected all the belts and they all look fairly new and working. A few days after that, there was a new code for a cylinder 3 misfire. At 1/2 throttle, it accelerates completely smooth until it gets to about 40-45 mph, when it misfires and hiccups, then eventually smooths out. There's a very faint knocking that I can hear if I'm standing directly in front of the engine bay and a very slight misfire at idle. I'm running some injector cleaner through it right now, hoping that will help some. Just wondering if any of you had experienced something similar.

Thanks guys

Hello, and welcome to the club! If you aren't sure of the condition of tune that the car is in, the best bet is to start with a complete tune up so you know where to start... Plugs, wires, filters (fuel AND air). Check and clean all the coil contacts at the top and bottom of the coils. If the vacuum lines are still factory, chances are they leak. hit up a dealer for a new set. (under $50 bucks)

They are sold as a set....

Thank you! Definitely plan on doing plugs and wires. Air filter is already done, just waiting for a day when I have time to ziptie the pcm down and finish the intake. Plan on doing fuel filter for sure. Will definitely look into new vacuum lines. I had taken a short video of the knocking but had trouble uploading it or inserting a link into the post.

I'd do the fuel filter almost first...It's the one thing we all seem to forget about...besides the wiring...Cheap fixes...and welcome...

Bad plug wires are known to cause issues. Get some new AC delco wire. The more expensive of the 2 types available and you should be good for another 100K if you go with the iridium plugs.
