Going to move towards RWD chassis soon, so it's more fun to use. Z7 kit needs gone, MP112/L26 chillin', 2 GenV's on ice, and T67 currently on my L32. Cheaper than LSx playtime yo tinker with this.

@  dezldave961 : (06 August 2021 - 11:40 PM)

I'll gladly do mega builds with my stash! Getting stationed at a new spot next year, and might need projects.

@  kevandkaye : (05 August 2021 - 10:52 PM)

How cool would it be for everyone here who has leftover parts, send them ALL to one person for a superbuild? Sorry, peeked in and got chatty!

@  kevandkaye : (05 August 2021 - 10:50 PM)

Sure am missing the days when Buicks were built by Buick.

@  kevandkaye : (05 August 2021 - 10:50 PM)

Paul's a mod?!?! I take you more for a resto......

@  ejguillot : (03 August 2021 - 10:28 PM)

Well, my project Buick is dead. Piston smacked a valve, piston/block/head is trashed. That killed my enthusiasm. Will be posting a parts for sale list real soon.

@  Marchi1 : (22 July 2021 - 05:30 PM)

Its even worse... he has been a memeber for 13 years and has 2 active posts.....

@  dezldave961 : (21 July 2021 - 11:38 PM)

Some people don't know how the internet works, and think deleting after posting somehow works like an Etch-A-Sketch. (You made 2 posts 13yrs ago about fixing an ignition switch, which I'd never know if you didn't ask about deleting... Look up Streisand Effect.)

@  Marchi1 : (21 July 2021 - 01:53 AM)

and just quit using it. there is very little update and while I can delete it why would you?

@  Marchi1 : (21 July 2021 - 01:52 AM)

that hurst I have been here in less than months

@  esqueue : (15 July 2021 - 05:50 PM)

A moderator hasn't been here for months

@  esqueue : (15 July 2021 - 05:48 PM)

How do I get my account deleted?

SELLING 99GS SEE FORUM, THANK YOU

@  dezldave961 : (16 June 2021 - 11:10 PM)

Good deal. I'll be resolving some issues when I get back from a work trip, as well.

@  ejguillot : (14 June 2021 - 01:05 PM)

Also rechecked the flexplate and rocker arm bolts, all were torqued to spec.

@  ejguillot : (14 June 2021 - 01:05 PM)

Update on the tap/knock noise: resolved most of it by resealing my exhaust. Front header to crossover pipe leak - noise at 1/2 engine RPM.

@  ejguillot : (04 June 2021 - 07:15 PM)

I'll recheck those, thanks for the heads up.

@  dezldave961 : (03 June 2021 - 04:50 PM)

Also, check that the rockers are all torqued, still. Re-usable bolts like to be around 25 or so, but settling in from running may back one out that was torqued while partially under load on a cam lobe.

@  dezldave961 : (03 June 2021 - 04:48 PM)

Did you do anything with the flexplate? Those 3 bolts tend to come loose and rattle over time, if not torqued with loctite.

@  ejguillot : (03 June 2021 - 04:46 PM)

doing OK. Tune's all fixed, but hearing a tap/knock noise from my engine that is no longer fading with higher RPM. Not good.

Take this for what you think its worth but the most budget build I have is my current build and its a great driver

Dorman front sway (33mm) $100

cop car/ 9c1 rear sway (18 mm) $30 jy

rear and front STB with Don rome bracket 120

Fbody brakes $50 JY

06 impala ss brake rotors $80

Fbody brake pads $35-50

Grand am rear brake calipers and brackets $30 JY

180 thermostat  $12

Spend your time or buy already modified and get a Lower Intake Manifold that has the inlet opened the coolant restrictor removed or shaved down the SC coolant ports plugged with pipe plugs. $10-200 depending on if you buy already modified

ported blower that has the bolt bosses removed and maybe the H bar, opened inlet to 68 mm and smooth the transition depending on the machine shop or the person you buy from $50-150

Pulley system with a 3.8 and a 3.5 $120-180 depending on who or where you get it

Speed Daddy headers $180-220 Ebay

LIM gasket and aluminum elbows $45-100

Valve cover gaskets $50

Supercharger Coupler and oil 20-40

Big 3 wire upgrade $20-50

DIY shift kit and filter $40

Cat hydraulic fluid to use with trans fluid $30-45

Caspers Fuel Pump rewire (esp if its a 98 or 97)  $30-45

Flipped upper mounts or Poly mounts $0-120

Plugs Autolite 104 or 605 copper  $20-30

Misc fluids and goop 100-220

Misc poly mounts and such 200

Replace your Vacuum lines as well there is a DIY thread on the site $10-20

If you are doing the Valve Cover gasket the rockers are an easy while you're in there mod

If you want to shave a bit of weight you can run an aluminum subframe and or front impact bar from an Aztec or Rendezvous that is an easy 35-50 lbs off the car and depending on the JY you are looking at 50-200 for the 2 parts.

If you do all this and have your maintenance up to par you will have a car that in theory should be from .5 to a full second faster BUT your trans is going to be hating life more... Fair warning.

I think Alan, Jimmie, Derrick and Bob will fully agree with this listing. I am finishing up the porting on the intake manifold and the SC if you want pics send me a message on here and I will send you my number.

Should also list if you want to go higher due to crap roads like here you can get intrigue/ cop car suspension and its bolt in. also if you're not weight reduction crazy like I am you can run calipers off a 06-09 Impala SS they are cast steel and heavy but are dual piston and bigger by an inch

Thanks gojo! I'll keep that all in mind for sure! Roads aren't too horrible where l live and the suspension in this, compared to my lowered accord wagon, is like driving in a bubble haha. Just flushed the radiator today, taking care of maintenance first and foremost. Definitely appreciate all the wise words you've all shared so far! Living this car and can't wait to do more to it ☺
