Agreed. I'd rather pay money to keep this site going than be on Facebook and having everything on there be used to make a buck for Zuck and company.

Hey guys, still chasing the starting issue, but wanted to get some insight into the rear strut/coil. Car sits normal/OEM height on level ground with no load, but on a hill or with people in the back seat, it sags BAD.

I'm only doing the rear, as the front appears to either have been recently replaced or just held up WAY better than the rears. Haven't thoroughly checked the trunk for rust-through spots, but last time I poked around all seemed well. I'm going to get both struts and coils as the struts are rusted to hell and clearly the coils have run their course

My question is, should I stick with GR2s or are AGX better for any particular reason? The most important thing to me is OEM ride height and longevity. I will not be lowering now or any time in the future. Should I just stick with something like this http://www.amazon.co...y/dp/B00HPZOOJGinstead?

Thanks

I almost went with the AC Delcos when replacing mine, because the original ones on my '04 were so good I wasn't sure I could improve on that.

In the end I just didn't trust the boxed ones to be just like the originals. So I went with a combination of Bilstein (rear) and AGX's (front) instead.

So I can't answer as to which one of your choices is actually better, but I can say that I really like the ride of the AGX's. A little firmer than stock, but very streetable in my opinion.

Funny though, even though they were slightly stiffer (and I mean just slightly) riding on setting #1, it just did not handle the corners as well as the original ones did with 140k miles on them. But on setting #2, it's only slightly firmer still, but handles as good or slightly better than the old struts did.

The only reason I ended up with two brands was that I was trying to source Bilsteins for both ends but ultimately could only find one set left and rear only.

But still all in all, very happy with the AGX and Bilstein combo.

Good luck

Paul

I've noticed that a lot of the aftermarket springs sag in the rear.  Do you still have the OEM strut/spring in the rear?  Interesting that the original springs are sagging, that's not too common.  I removed the stock springs from my car at about 185k and neither front or rear were sagging.

If you want to stick with original ride height I would recommend Delco replacement springs, I've just seen too many aftermarket springs sag in the rear.  I put Monroes on my wife's GS about 20k ago and the rear is already sagging.

Agreed with OhMyGS. My rear is sagging bad also I plan to replace the rears with A set of moog 9C1 drop in struts/springs. Pot holes are horrible out here and I dont mind a little rake, I actually like the look.

Yea, the 9C1 is another option.  I've seen it done and looks good.

My 2001 GS is running KYB FE4 struts all four corners, and Moog Intrigue springs on the rear ( IIRC internet rumor is that 91c option runs Intrigue Springs).

Gives it that police interceptor look. Added GMPP sways also...not that swaybars affect the stance, but gotta swap them out while you're under the car anyways!

Probably have 4-5k miles on this setup. Very comfortable handling and ride quality. Full tank of gas rear wheel well still sits higher than fronts...but not like redneck el camino raked, think police car, utilitarian...

These upgrades firmed up the GS a fair deal compared to the stock suspension with 75k on the clock, but still rides like a magic carpet compared to my Z28 with Bilsteins...

If I had to do struts/springs on my 2002 I would be content duplicating this FE4/Intrigue setup.

Is these the 9C1 struts you're all talking about?

Been finally showing the 02 some love. I'm making a list and checking it twice, buying a bunch of stuff and want to fix the rear sag

Not sure if that is the right one. 9C1 is the police package.

Yeah I know, those are for a 2002 Chevy Impala with the police or taxi package. Is that what's always mentioned? Or do you have a link to the specific springs?

No, send SuperDave a PM.  He is probably most knowledgeable on the 9C1.
