Going to move towards RWD chassis soon, so it's more fun to use. Z7 kit needs gone, MP112/L26 chillin', 2 GenV's on ice, and T67 currently on my L32. Cheaper than LSx playtime yo tinker with this.

@  dezldave961 : (06 August 2021 - 11:40 PM)

I'll gladly do mega builds with my stash! Getting stationed at a new spot next year, and might need projects.

@  kevandkaye : (05 August 2021 - 10:52 PM)

How cool would it be for everyone here who has leftover parts, send them ALL to one person for a superbuild? Sorry, peeked in and got chatty!

@  kevandkaye : (05 August 2021 - 10:50 PM)

Sure am missing the days when Buicks were built by Buick.

@  kevandkaye : (05 August 2021 - 10:50 PM)

Paul's a mod?!?! I take you more for a resto......

@  ejguillot : (03 August 2021 - 10:28 PM)

Well, my project Buick is dead. Piston smacked a valve, piston/block/head is trashed. That killed my enthusiasm. Will be posting a parts for sale list real soon.

@  Marchi1 : (22 July 2021 - 05:30 PM)

Its even worse... he has been a memeber for 13 years and has 2 active posts.....

@  dezldave961 : (21 July 2021 - 11:38 PM)

Some people don't know how the internet works, and think deleting after posting somehow works like an Etch-A-Sketch. (You made 2 posts 13yrs ago about fixing an ignition switch, which I'd never know if you didn't ask about deleting... Look up Streisand Effect.)

@  Marchi1 : (21 July 2021 - 01:53 AM)

and just quit using it. there is very little update and while I can delete it why would you?

@  Marchi1 : (21 July 2021 - 01:52 AM)

that hurst I have been here in less than months

@  esqueue : (15 July 2021 - 05:50 PM)

A moderator hasn't been here for months

@  esqueue : (15 July 2021 - 05:48 PM)

How do I get my account deleted?

@  sky72lark : (25 June 2021 - 01:20 AM)

SELLING 99GS SEE FORUM, THANK YOU

@  dezldave961 : (16 June 2021 - 11:10 PM)

Good deal. I'll be resolving some issues when I get back from a work trip, as well.

@  ejguillot : (14 June 2021 - 01:05 PM)

Also rechecked the flexplate and rocker arm bolts, all were torqued to spec.

@  ejguillot : (14 June 2021 - 01:05 PM)

Update on the tap/knock noise: resolved most of it by resealing my exhaust. Front header to crossover pipe leak - noise at 1/2 engine RPM.

@  ejguillot : (04 June 2021 - 07:15 PM)

I'll recheck those, thanks for the heads up.

@  dezldave961 : (03 June 2021 - 04:50 PM)

Also, check that the rockers are all torqued, still. Re-usable bolts like to be around 25 or so, but settling in from running may back one out that was torqued while partially under load on a cam lobe.

@  dezldave961 : (03 June 2021 - 04:48 PM)

Did you do anything with the flexplate? Those 3 bolts tend to come loose and rattle over time, if not torqued with loctite.

@  ejguillot : (03 June 2021 - 04:46 PM)

doing OK. Tune's all fixed, but hearing a tap/knock noise from my engine that is no longer fading with higher RPM. Not good.

Hello,

The early Regal GS was always one of my favorite cars. They do many things well, and I have always enjoyed the way they can Stomp on another unsuspecting car without too much modding.

After looking around a few times, I couldn't find a clean one, but this time it found me! A guy from work had one and sold it to me for $3500, it has 106k miles on it.

My wife and I spent the weekend cleaning on it and are both having a lot of fun with it! We plan to mod it enough to get the most out of it without sacrificing the daily driven aspect of it.

Looking forward to meeting you all; I welcome your advice and hope to be able to offer the same to others someday as well.

Any suggestions for best route of modded daily driver?

Thank you. :icon-cool:

That is beautiful. I always loved that color. Check out the Newbie Guides (there are two) for some modding tips.

You can either do a whole bunch of little things, or start out right a do something big.  You're gonna to do something big eventually (trust me), might as well start off there.

Intercooler, cam, or turbo.  All are worth the time and effort.  :)

aint that the truth, i started out with a set of yt 1.95 rockers then a 3.4 with headers. and thought this is all ill ever do. chipped a piston,

now l36 bottom end, the same rockers, ported heads, 42 injectors, fsic and a 3.2 pulley kr free.  and pulls like a monster now compared to anything else ive done to it.

the tune also helps. why just getting your own tuner is best really.

Hi there! Thanks for the welcomes!

I will try to find the noob guides and read them over. :icon-mrgreen:

Hey who do you folks like for an aftermarket vendor? I see we have Rock Auto - already use them, cool discount codes thx!

Do you like ZZ Perf or 3800 Perf? I can't get anyone to answer the phone, is a shame, I want to drop a few grand but need some advice.

Cheers.

You'll get a lot of opinions on aftermarket parts.  Some believe in OEM, many use RockAuto, NAPA, and the like.  For performance aftermarket stuff, there a few that have developed and designed parts, such as ZZP, 3800 Performance, W-Body Store, and Intense.  If you are asking for opinions, you will find the complainers first to speak badly of their experience.  Every vendor has had a problem with quality, delivery, or customer service over the years.  I make my purchases mostly on "bang for the buck."  But then sometimes I go by "you get what you pay for."

As for the Newbie Guides, the original is a sticky in the DIY section.  The new one is in the Additional Forum ideas? section started by glendayle.

i suggest not rushing to mod, but save up and wait for performance parts to pop up used.  much cheaper that way.

every last mod on my car was bought used.  and i saved a lot of coin that way.

if you want to run a cam, buy a new one, some parts are not worth the risk if used.  but most bolt on mods are safe and just fine.

Thank you.

Well I have sway bars, new struts, new condenser, new fans, updated LIM set, catback, fenderwell intake, phenolic TB spacer, heatshield, TOG headers, downpipe, 1:9 rockers, retainers, springs, pushrods, transkit, flashed PCM, 3.4 pulley and some other stuff I can;t think of sitting on the floor of the garage now. Car is about half torn down.

Good thing too, the LIM was leaking.

scrap the tb spacer and heat shield, both do nothing, the spacer can leak too, other then theres no gain from it.

the rest will leave you with a smile for sure tho.
