Sucks these forums are as vacant as they are... oh well, there's still the faithful like us!

@  kevandkaye : (27 September 2020 - 02:40 AM)

Yet still, we lurk. :o

@  ejguillot : (27 September 2020 - 01:08 AM)

Yeah, Facebook took over and killed forums.

@  dezldave961 : (26 September 2020 - 03:24 AM)

Ya, most of the original wave of active members have changed vehicles to something (probably) less mod-friendly, with the occasional person in an LS or Hemi that they do some bolt-ons to. Kinda sad that forums faded.

@  ejguillot : (23 September 2020 - 09:02 PM)

Finally updated my signature to match my current Buick.

Just became a moderator on 3800Pro, so that's fun. I know it's gone thru a couple hands since Intense got sold, then that guy sold the forum. Not sure what that'll help, but it's something.

@  ejguillot : (26 July 2020 - 02:47 AM)

Glad to hear it. Would be a tragedy for us remaining owners to lose the knowledge in these forums.

@  dezldave961 : (12 July 2020 - 01:55 AM)

Hosted a buddy and his family for cookout... Ya, not alot on forums lately. Just keeping the lights on.

Got bored and started making build video...

@  dezldave961 : (04 May 2020 - 04:05 AM)

I need to hunt down the little black trim bar that's at the top edge of the GS rocker panel cover, for driver's side between rear door and wheel well.

Funny... I've had both the Regal and the wife for 10 years now.

I still lurk from time to time. Just got my Regal back on the road. Looking forward to bringing it back to 100%.

Man, been a super long time since I came around.  Glad to see some names I still recognize in here lol.

I sold my LS back in 2011, she had finally given up the ghost, lots of rot in the front end and almost 190k miles.  Currently driving a Nissan Maxima, but getting ready to trade that in, too.

I've had my eyes set on getting myself a 2016 or 2017 Regal GS, and thinking of that reminded me of here, so here I is!

Welcome back!   I like the 2011 and up GS's not sure about the best years?  6spd would be fun but I would like one with AWD.

I'm not sure which year is the best, myself. The 2011-2013 GS has more power from the factory, at around 270 HP, it uses the LHU 2.0 Turbo Ecotec motor. GM did a facelift on all the Regals in 2014, and also swapped out the LHU Ecotec for the LTG Ecotec, which puts out 258 HP. I want to say that besides the motor, the GS stayed mechanically the same through the generation, but I'm not 100% on that.

I'm partial to the look of the facelifted models, myself, they look so nice! I just hope that I can get approved for one, they're a little out of my comfort zone for price, but I want something that's gonna last me, and also that I'm gonna enjoy for several years.

It's a shame that the 6spd manual is only available on the FWD GS, but I want the AWD more than I want the manual.

https://gmauthority.com/blog/2018/03/hot-tip-depreciation-has-made-the-previous-gen-buick-regal-gs-a-great-value/

the 2012-’17 Buick Regal GS are available for a relatively small portion of their original sticker prices, ranging from $10k to $25k depending on year, mileage, and equipment. We conducted our own search, figuring that having to accept a slushbox is a worthy trade-off for all-wheel drive (AWD models weren’t available with a stick), and found plenty of 2014 model-year examples below 55k miles for less than $20k. Given

the 2012-’17 Buick Regal GS packs a turbocharged, 2.0-liter four-cylinder, for which plenty of aftermarket tunes exist,  This means that the previous-gen GS’ 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque can be beefed up significantly for not much extra coin.

brand-new Buick Regal GS was just launched for 2018, powered by a normally-aspirated, 3.6-liter V6 and a 9-speed automatic, driving all four wheels. Yet with a starting price of just under $40k, we can’t help but think you might be better off with a nearly-new 2012-’17 example and an ECU tune. Your wallet will thank you.

Not a bad deal.  I am just personally averse to the idea of driving a turbo 4 - because most every recent car or SUV has one.  Too common for my taste.

A Saturn Sky would be the exception - small. relatively light, 2 seat convertible designed from the outset with a turbo 4.  That I would happily drive.

It's the huge spread of crossovers and SUV's that also use a 2 liter turbo 4 (never mind the larger luxury sedans) that I don't like.  The only reason those vehicles were ever designed for a turbo 4 is the Chinese and European markets that tax by displacement.

I'm okay with the newer Regals having turbo 4's, they put out more power than the supercharged 3800 V6 (stock, of course) in the older GS Regals.

Plus, turbo engines are so easy to get power from, a tune alone can make a huge difference in power.

Some of the best deals there are is a slightly used regal driven by old people, low mileage and they go for cheap because nobody wants to drive old people cars, not realizing that they were also serviced religiously!

Not quite South Florida, more like West Central Florida.  I'm in Riverview, near Tampa.

Been restomodding a 98 Regal GS from the ground up.  Got the powertrain almost done, then it's bodywork and paint.  I'm doing all the work, learning as I go.
